Horwich Probus has been running since 1994. It was joined by Bolton Probus in 2016 and offers retired men the chance to meet socially, share conversations and hear talks on a wide range of different subjects.
Meetings are monthly on Monday mornings at 10.30-11.30am. Tea/coffee and biscuits are served from 10.00am. We also meet informally between the talks meetings for a convivial lunch in the local pub. There is a yearly membership fee of £30
Speakers meetings are held at Bolton Old Links Golf Club, Chorley Old Rd, Bolton BL1 5SU
The word Probus is an abbreviation of the words PROfessional and BUSiness. However, membership is not restricted to these two groups. It also welcomes people from all walks of life. Probus clubs provide an opportunity for retired people to attend regular meetings with others with similar interests who enjoy meeting socially. Probus is an organisation for active retirees who enjoy the camaraderie that belonging to this organisation brings. The concept of Probus was born in the UK and has grown to be a huge success worldwide. Many clubs have extensive networking, social programmes, which include meetings with other Probus clubs, group trips, holidays, and involvement in community projects, etc.
